Event Summary

Help us celebrate Canada’s inclusion and diversity in sports!

The CEWHA and OPWHL in partnership with Ottawa2017 and Carleton University will host para-athletes from across our nation at  the 2017 CEWHA National Championships. The tournament will coincide with the upcoming Canada 150th celebrations and Carleton’s 75th anniversary. Publicity for this event will reach across Canada and will include local and national media, social media and internet live streaming.

nationals-2015Date:  Friday, August 4th  – Monday, August 7th, 2017

Location:  Raven’s Nest, Carleton University, Ottawa

Event:  Para-athletes from across Canada will compete in the wheelchair hockey 2017 CEWHA Nationals tournament. Twenty-five (25) PowerHockey games will take place over this 4 day event.

Attendance:  Approximately 100 para-athletes from across Canada will travel to the Nation’s Capital to participate in the tournament in addition to coaches,  officials, attendants, family and friends.  It is expected that over 1,000 people in the Ottawa area will attend games and be directly involved in the organization, management and implementation of this event. In addition, live streaming will allow an additional 2,000 people to follow the tournament   in cities across Canada. 

Other Activities:  Opening/Closing Ceremonies and Awards Banquet to include local and national dignitaries including the Honourable Jim   Watson, Mayor of Ottawa.
